If I disable and enable the device in Win7 it starts working again. Any version of Windows from Windows XP onwards will automatically detect and install a Microsoft remote as soon as you connect it. If byte 4 is set to 01 the eHome driver may generate a multimedia keyboard keypress. Put any object on top of the box, the light will go out and you will be free to use your remote on it like you should. I thought you said this was an external card reader? Upon trying to install, I’m told I don’t meet system minimum requirements – update cancelled.

Remote controller uses eHome Infrared Transceiver to connect with the computer but since I started running Windows 7 it does not work any more. It is the drivers the device automatically installs and relies on.

Could this cause the problem? The front headphone input? After inrfared setup, I just removed the dummy headset from the transceiver box and everything continues to work perfectly.
